However low-quality images, handwritten text, wa- termarks, stamps and unusual characters challenge the performance of current OCR software solutions, resulting in an inaccurate metadata.

USECASE

Piql provided Optical Character Recognition (OCR) services to a leading global provider of mass digitisation services to national libraries and archives. Our client wanted to increase their competitive advantage by lowering their service price, while maintaining or improving service delivery. To achieve this, our client implemented our ultra-high-performance OCR software as part of their digitsation service. The Lumex Accuracy Enhancer (LAE) was applied in a proprietary workflow based on off-the-shelf and customized components. This resulted in the client workflow being ‘turbocharged’, achieving up to 100% improvement.
