Author(s) Background The AStoR project is developing a system for data storage on film as storage medium, with required longevity of 500 years. The film will be packed in a primary packaging (piqlBox) and stored under ISO 18911:2010 conditions. The piqlBox is required to have longevity of at least 500 years, and have no negative influence on the longevity of the storage medium. Summary This report summarise the process of the selection of the PiqlBox material and presents results of the selected material. The testing and selection was based on the Requirement Specification of the packaging material to ensure suitability for the application. Initially 13 material candidates were selected for testing, and based on these results, four of these wer selected for extended testing including accelerated ageing to ensure the longevity of the primary pa kaging material. To ensure that the long vity of the storage medium is not compromis d, these materials were lso lo g term tested in contact with th storage medium. The current r port is an ext ract of the Norn r technical r port with reference“ RD14583 ”.
